We theoretically and numerically investigate the influence of high-order effects on a trapped soliton pumped by a high-power pulse during nonlinear propagation. According to the moment method, some evolution rules of a trapped soliton are found in the presence of high-order effects by theoretically analyzing five moment parameters. Further, the temporal and spectral evolutions of a trapped soliton are numerically studied in details. It is demonstrated that the third-order dispersion (TOD) only affects the center position of a trapped soliton, but it does not change the spectrum structure. The intrapulse Raman scattering (IRS) causes a trapped soliton to red-shift and modifies the spectrum structure, thus the asymmetric oscillation structure is generated in the lagging edge of a spectrum. The self-steepening (SS) mainly changes the distribution of red-shifted components, however, it has little effect on the blue-shifted spectrum. Moreover, suppression or enhancement of the Raman-induced frequency shift (RIFS) affected by TOD and SS is also discussed.

The identification of overlapping protein complexes in proteinprotein interaction (PPI) networks may elucidate cellular functional organizations and their underlying cellular mechanisms. Recently, many protein complex mining algorithms have been developed for PPI networks. However, the majority of available algorithms primarily depend on mining dense subgraphs as protein complexes, thereby failing to consider the inherent biological meanings between protein pairs. Thus, methods for identifying protein complexes using the biological significance hidden in edges need to be investigated. In this paper, we propose IK-medoids, an improved method that detects overlapping protein complexes from weighted PPI networks based on the rough fuzzy relationships between protein pairs. The presented algorithm is primarily based on the fuzzy relationship that obtains the non-overlapping protein substructure, and then K-medoids is executed from the proteins in the PPI network. Next, the similarity between one protein and each candidate complex is calculated to determine whether the protein belongs to one or multiple complexes with the ration of each similarity to maximum similarity. In the end, overlapped protein complexes are merged to form the final protein complexes. We apply the method to three PPI networks and validate the results using two reference protein complexes retrieved from public databases. Experimental results show that our method outperforms classical algorithms, such as ClusterONE, CMC, MCL, OSLOM, and RFC, and achieves ideal overall performance in terms of F-measure, sensitivity, and accuracy.

We experimentally study the spatiotemporal evolution of chirped femtosecond laser pulses at a specific spatial position, such as the modulation peak position (MPP), during small-scale self-focusing (SSSF). It is found that the spatial peak intensity at the MPP increases rapidly initially with increment of input power due to the effect of SSSF, however it becomes saturated at the higher power because the finite energy of the beam restraints increasing of the peak intensity at the MPP. The pulse width at the MPP is compressed gradually with rising power owing to the spatiotemporal coupling effect, which will reach the narrowest when the spatial peak intensity at the MPP reaches the maximum. Further, the influence of chirp on the pulse width evolution at the MPP is discussed theoretically. We find that the negative chirp accelerates the pulse width compression because the negative chirp enhances the process of SSSF, but the positive chirp is counterproductive. Our results may provide some helps for propagation and amplification of broadband laser pulses.

In this paper, we theoretically and experimentally investigate the initial temporal characterization and the temporal evolution of a picosecond laser pulse by a synchronized femtosecond laser pulse. After theoretically analyzing the measurement principle, we experimentally measure the initial temporal characterization of the picosecond laser pulse. Further, the temporal evolution of the picosecond laser pulse propagating in different lengths of a carbon disulfide (CS2) is measured. We find that the initial temporal shape of the picosecond laser pulse is smooth and clean. As increasing of the CS2 length, the pulse width of the picosecond laser pulse has a trend of slight narrow owing to the spatiotemporal coupling effect.

When laser pulses propagate in an inhomogeneous nonlinear medium, we theoretically investigate the evolution of laser pulses by analytically solving the (3 + 1)-dimensional generalized nonlinear Schrodinger equation with variable coefficients and optical lattice. A series of chirped-free and chirped analytic solutions, such as soliton solutions are found and intensities evolution of these analytic solutions are studied in detail. In the absence of optical lattice, we find that the intensities evolution of chirped-free and chirped analytic solutions vary regularly when the diffraction coefficient is the same as the dispersion coefficient. When the diffraction coefficient is different from the dispersion coefficient, the intensities evolution of chirped-free analytic solutions are regular variation, but the intensities evolution of chirped analytic solutions are irregular. In the presence of optical lattice, the intensities evolution of chirped analytic solutions vary regularly because the diffraction coefficient and the dispersion coefficient are always identical. We focus on the topology control algorithm in Software-Defined Sensor Networks (SDSNs) and propose a robot-assisted sink nodes relocation algorithm based on the Markov chain. Firstly, by using the software-defined architecture, sensor nodes and network topology can be deployed and updated by the controller which provides global network information and centralized management in real time. Then robot-assisted sink nodes are deployed into SDSN to extend the network lifetime. Unlike motionless nodes or random mobile nodes which may bring about unforeseeable network topological variation, robot-assisted sink node can be migrated to specified location by the controller in SDSN. Furthermore, we propose a Markov chain based Robot-assisted Weighted Relocation (MRWR) algorithm to redeploy the sink nodes on the basis of node status and weight. Simulation results and analysis indicate that the proposed algorithm extends network lifetime with lower average power consumption and decreases the average delay from sensor nodes to sink node as compared with that of static network.

Considering a small-scale fading environment in a dense random wireless network, we investigate the impact of the carrier-sensing threshold on the link performance under the premise of a fixed carrier-sensing range. At first, we assume a close transmitter-receiver distance and model the network nodes as a homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP). Then we present a simple analysis model of the conditional link success probability to establish a correlation between the interference capture and the link success. Subsequently, based on the assumption that the interference among proximity nodes mainly comes from the nearby nodes, we obtain the bounds of the carrier-sensing threshold through stochastic analysis and a simple adaptive algorithm to adjust the carrier-sensing threshold within its bounds is further presented. Numerical results show that the proposed method enables the pending transmitter to adjust the bounds of the carrier-sensing threshold adaptively when the channel path-loss exponent changes and the validity of the proposed adaptive algorithm is verified in the simulations.

In this paper, two coverage optimization algorithms based on Voronoi diagram are proposed to reduce the energy consumption of software-defined sensor networks (SDSNs). In the first algorithm named Minimax Radius Algorithm (MRA), we try to reduce the sensing radii of nodes as much as possible while preserving the original network coverage. In the second algorithm named Sleeping-based Algorithm (SLA), we try to set as many nodes as possible into sleep mode without generating new coverage holes. Simulation results show that both algorithms can reduce the energy consumption significantly and the energy reduction rate increases with no des' sensing radius and the number of nodes.

摘要:
In this paper, the evolution of temporal soliton is investigated analytically when a laser pulse propagates in the inhomogeneous nonlinear medium with a Scarff II parity-time (PT)-symmetric potential. After a detailed analyzing the evolution of the intensity and pulse width (PW) of a temporal soliton, it is find that the chirped-free and chirped temporal soliton are stable when the dispersion coefficient is a periodic modulated function. When the dispersion coefficient are the constant and the exponential decreasing function, the chirped-free temporal soliton is stable, while the chirped temporal soliton is gradually compressed.

Hybrid nanostructures composed of plasmonic metal and semiconductor are receiving increasing attentions, owing to their unique optical features that are induced by the co-existence of localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and semiconduction as well as the synergistic interactions between these two components. Other than the structures based on conventional noble metals, a cost-effective structure based on non-noble metal is studied in this work. Utilizing the surface dewetting in Bi-Si system, the Bi-nanorod/Si-nanodots hybrid structure (BSHS) is prepared by alternated sputtering of Bi and Si at low rate. The shift, split, and high order excitation of SPRs in BSHS are studied combining numerical and theoretical simulation. Calculations of the optical extinction performed as a function of the size of BSHS show a guideline to tune its spectra.

To overcome the shortcomings of the single-shot autocorrelation SSA where only one pulse width is obtained when the SSA is applied to measure the pulse width of ultrashort laser pulses a modified SSA for measuring the spatiotemporal characteristics of ultrashort laser pulses at different spatial positions is proposed. The spatiotemporal characteristics of femtosecond laser pulses output from the Ti sapphire regenerative amplifier system are experimentally measured by the proposed method. It was found that the complex spatial characteristics are measured accurately.The pulse widths at different spatial positions are various which obey the Gaussian distribution.The pulse width at the same spatial position becomes narrow with the increase in input average power when femtosecond laser pulses pass through a carbon disulfide CS2 nonlinear medium.The experimental results verify that the proposed method is valid for measuring the spatiotemporal characteristics of ultrashort laser pulses at different spatial positions.

Small-scale self-focusing (SF) causes rapid increase in the partial spatial intensity, breaking up the spatial profile of the beam into an intensity increasing zone (IZ) and a non-increasing zone (NIZ). We measure the evolutions of the pulse width at the IZ and NIZ with small-scale SF, and our results show that the pulse width at the IZ becomes narrower with increasing partial spatial intensity. The pulse width at the NIZ is almost unchanged with increasing laser power. We find that our experimental results are in good agreement with an approximate theoretical analysis.

We study the physical-vapor-deposition of 1D bismuth nanostructures. Bi nanowire elongating along [012] and/or [110] direction as well as anisotropic Bi nano-columns are physical-vapor-deposited successfully. The coexistence and competition of surface diffusion and geometric shielding are critical to their formation as well as growth mode transition among them. Since physical-vapor-deposition is a vacuum process, we make use of it to fabricate the ohmic contact to prevent the damage to the bismuth nanostructures brought by the etching to their thick surface oxide layer.
