Charophyte as a dominant submerged plant in the Baiyangdian Lake was selected to test the ability of eutrophic water restoration. The indoor simulation experiment showed Chara sp. community had reduced chlorophyll and nutrients contents. Chlorophyll-a, ammonia nitrogen, total nitrogen and total phosphorus re- duced to 24.85%, 39.2%, 30.7% and 23.2% of the initial concentration respectively.
