终极关怀与人的生死问题密切相关,是人类超越生死对立的基本途径.对生死问题的思考贯注于毛泽东的一生.毛泽东超越生死的基本心态是乐观、奋斗,从早年到晚年都是如此,尽管其中也有重要差异;毛泽东将生死问题置于终极性价值关怀之下而消解了生死的尖锐对立,这种终极性价值关怀在早年是抽象的精神实体,即"大本大源",在世界观发生转变以后,则是共产主义理想、人民本位.在人文精神失落、终极性价值消褪的今天,重温毛泽东的生死观有着重要的意义.

The ulitimate concern is closely related to the matter of man's life and death. It is the basic means by which mankind gets above the opposition of life and death.
