毛泽东诗学理论有一个完整的体系,诗言志是其理论体系的逻辑起点,诗歌创作与欣赏规律的揭示和独创性的理论建构是其主要内容,实践性、体验性、鲜明的中国特色是其理论体系的显著特征。毛泽东认为诗应以新诗为主体,但新诗又太自由,太散漫,不能成形,因而遭到读者冷落。他主张应当借鉴古典诗词和民歌,在此基础上发展新诗,创作出为中国老百姓喜闻乐见的具有中国作风和中国气派的新体诗歌。毛泽东诗词在借用、改造旧体诗词的艺术形式方面取得了辉煌成就,其诗学理论和诗词创作实践为中国新诗的发展指明了方向,树立了成功的典范。
