英汉称谓系统的表现类型和使用特点各有不同.汉语称谓系统体系严密、分类精细、名目繁多、语义明晰,而英语称谓系统则体系简单、分类粗疏、数量贫乏、语义含混.此外,汉语的亲属称谓泛化与头衔性称谓偏好极具特色,而英语的亲属称谓与头衔性称谓不仅种类少,其使用范围也受到相当的限制.
