A simple method for rectangular array pattern synthesis, which combines convolution of two perpendicular linear arrays with orthogonal approach for each linear array synthesis, is proposed. Because beam patterns derive from Fourier transforms of distributions in space, the distribution to produce the product of two simpler patterns is the convolution of the simpler distributions.
