This paper is to provide experimental evidence of designing and assessing a teacher training program for sustainability competency enhancement in higher education. Eighty-five engineering teachers participated in the program comprising three stages of fifteen days. The first stage focused on the content knowledge of eco-design and how to apply the life cycle assessment (LCA) methods and tools. The second stage aimed at using the four-step LCA method to a power battery eco-design problem.
